Asociación Mexicana de Ayuda a Niños con Cáncer

It was founded in 1982 in Mexico City to support children and adolescents during their oncology treatment. Their goal is to support families with limited resources and do not have social security from the interior and neighbouring states of SLP who are attending the Clinic at Hospital Central.
IFC supports AMANC by hosting an International Lunch; gifts for patients Birthday’s, Quinceanera’s (Girls celebrating their 15th Birthday); First Holy Communions and participating in their celebrations they hold for National Day’s. In addition to this our members donate clothing; toys and furniture to be used at their premises and for sale at their weekly Garage Sale.
Here is a piece written by one of AMANC’s patients who has survived Cancer and is currently studying Engineering. During his time at AMANC sadly his younger brother was also diagnosed with Cancer and passed away after only 6 months of treatment.
When I first arrived at AMANC I was very scared because honestly I had never heard about them. Due to my young age, when I arrived I felt distrust and missed my home.
Eventually, I started adapting to AMANC and got on well with the employees and the other children there.
During my treatment, I realised that this was a great place. I also realised that they help you a lot, since the moment I arrived they were kind to me. They treated me very well and helped me in getting additional support.
Some of the benefits obtained upon arriving are accommodation, meals and basic daily items. There are dentists, physical therapists (which are new) and psychologists. They also help with transport.
I got a lot of help, thanks to AMANC. I could not afford my medication, which is important during the treatment and is quite expensive. Some medicines are very expensive and I couldn’t have bought them without AMANC’S support.
In relation to the facilities, AMANC welcomes people who would otherwise sleep on the streets, insecure places and or on hospital floors.
AMANC provides good accommodation, there are fourteen bedrooms available. Each room holds two people with two beds, toilet and shower and it is a very clean place. The cleaning is done every day and the room is kept in perfect condition.
At the beginning I stayed two or three months depending on my treatment. Sometimes I could be gone for one or two weeks, but when I came back they were always kind and welcomed me.
I am healthy now and feel good. I am very grateful to AMANC for providing the necessary support to fight the battle with Cancer.
Get involved, give back.
